Private rooms & online

What Private Battle is
Private Battle lets you fight friends over the internet or on the same LAN. Create a room, share the invite, and settle the match without a public ladder.
How to connect (creator steps)
1. Open Private Battle from the main menu.
2. Create a room and wait for the online connection status.
3. Copy the entire EMPRESS1 invitation code.
4. Send the code to your friend; they paste it in Private Battle on the updated game.
5. On this site, both players open /play/ and use the EMPRESS1 code. The homepage URL is not a room invite. The host tab calculates the match and must stay open. A Windows LAN address is not the web entry.
Rematches in 1.0.0
Rooms can stay available after a match. Change teams, return to the same room, ready up, and the host can change arenas before starting again.
Fairness limits
Private battles limit Toxic and movement-speed boosts to cut down on “poison once and run forever.” Those limits are for private matches; single-player status behavior is preserved. Both players should be on version 1.0.0.
How the connection works
Internet play uses public PeerJS signaling and an encrypted WebRTC peer connection. Direct P2P is supported; restrictive firewalls or symmetric NAT may need a TURN relay. No managed TURN relay ships in this release.
Advanced desktop users can set EMPRESS_ICE_SERVERS to a JSON array of RTCIceServer objects before launch — on both computers. Connection quality depends on your networks; the creator emphasizes it is peer-to-peer, not a hosted game server.
Menus during private fights
Unlike solo battles, private matches keep running if you open the battle menu — your opponent is not paused.
